Operation Theatre Technology
An operation theatre (OT) technician is a healthcare professional who manages the operation theatre and assists surgeons and doctors during surgery and emergency procedures. He prepares patients for surgery, washes and disinfects the surgical area, and prepares surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization. He manages the flow of patients in and out of the operation theatre, arranges the operation theatre tables, and maintains a sterile environment. He assists surgeons during surgery, and facilitates the drugs and anesthetic gases required for surgery. OT technicians work in hospitals, emergency departments, and intensive care units. They are part of a team that includes doctors, nurses, attendants, and other healthcare professionals.
